This past weekend D (the husband) and I took a trip to the Midwest. Wisconsin to be exact. We drove through the night on Thursday, and passed through Chicago just as the sun was coming up.
On Saturday, D played rugby at a tournament on Lake Michigan in Milwaukee. This was our gorgeous view. I'm more than a little jealous of people that live with these amazing lake views.
That night we attended Summerfest, which is a HUGE music festival. That night ZZ Top, The Roots, Lady Antebellum, and The Red Hot Chili Pipers (not to be confused with Peppers) were there. RHCP(ipers) were SO good. Here we are with our friends at the concert.
Later that night I cajoled everyone into going to this bar, Distil, that I had read about in Food & Wine Magazine. I am so glad that we went. It was such a great place, and the music there was even better than at Summerfest. The guy playing, Joe Wray, was excellent - as were their drinks. The first drink that I had was the Apartment 137, which was this: 44 Huckleberry Vodka, Blueberry Nectar, Lemon Curd, Ginger, Housemade Sour, Lemon Sorbet Foam, Served Up. (pictured below).
The next day we headed home with my brand new used kayak that we found on Craigslist. It was a great 3 day weekend, and now I'm ready for some relaxation on the Fourth.
